Work In Progress

Finally! After several weeks of toiling and sweating over builds, the venue is complete. THE MUSE DEFINED is born in Second Life! While there are a few tweaks and a final inspection before the party begins, I've kept an album of things as they developed.

You can see more views of TMD on flickr

Consider this your excuse for Saturday, April 25th!

Details soon, stop by and check out the place and create an lm of your prime spot. I will be sending VIP seating on Event day, so be sure to join the group in order to receive your limo =)

FSB Songwriter Showcase @ FreeStar Bay Isle

Finally! Following several weekends of Saturday nights in RL, I am wired and back on the grid while palming a Doppio espresso (or "trippio" with the extra shot =P) and waking up fresh from a midday's slumber. After receiving an invitation to Freestar's regular Saturday night bashes, I didn't think to change as I beamed over to take a seat. I arrived to find a packed house, bare feet a myriad of the flannell-clad and barely-there pj's centered around a good music accompanied by an array of party delectables to dine on.

A slice of pizza and a glass of lemonade later, the night is in full swing (it never takes long for the sound stage to overflow with anxious avatars) and I don't waste time to plant it. After all, a full week of building on THE MUSE DEFINED's isle has been tedious, and I join the few that are seated for the sake of multitasking in and out of the world. There is nothing like live music that you don't have to travel very far to enjoy.

As I dropped in on a performance-in-progress, the line-up of artists secured my place in the crowd. A glance at the wall of seasoned SL performers enlightens anyone in the place that they are in for a definite treat, with Freestar Tammas setting off the night.

I arrived in time for Blues Heron's soothing blues waves bringing the mood to shore.
Armed with a vanguard of organic material, Heron crooned a blue-blazing set of soul-soothing rhythms that fought vigorously from being contained.

Rosedrop Rust's eclectic guitar cleaned up a set of steaming spilled beans during a stellar performance of nicely strummed originals, with the baked in goodness that only he can provide. Turn the dial onto his group's podcast, where you can stay up to date with the happenings of wonderful Rosedrop.

The sultry power-pianist Prowess Rayna's set was enigmatic. She combines beauty and intricacy in her performance, stunning the room with a reputation that precedes her. The smooth addition to a thumping pajama party, "Dragon Rider" was the piece that set me adrift on slumber bliss, topping off my night of PJ partying with an earful of celestial chords and notes.

View the slideshow, or keep a copy of the show notes to peruse through at your leisure. Thanks again, Free, for a great lineup of guests and hosting one of SL's best live music sets on the grid.

Back on the Scene

After a busy season of visiting relatives, getting caught up in snowstorms (and almost risked losing one of my favorite hats, carumba!) I finally get the chance to indulge in my musings again. I have neglected some habits to take on newer, more creative ventures that will enhance TMD and the podcast to come. Now that there is more time than not, you can feast on the many places in Second Life where Yve Vella has toured, and be sure to check out the artists she's enjoyed along her journeys. The rest of the week we will purge our iPhoto albums and twittering along the way.

There have been several local favorites that I have been tight-lipped about for too long, and we'll explore their music and aspirations this week as well. In the meantime, I hope you all are enjoying your local favorites, getting out and seeing the many talents your city--or metaverse--has to offer. As we speak, I am immersed in the Night Sounds program on Houston's KPFT 90.1FM radio, where I can bet on hearing music that is captivating and expansive in musical tastes. Stay on it, and keep your ears open.

Intro

A “muse” is noted as a source of inspiration (a force often personified by a woman), one who becomes absorbed in thought, or a being that sparks creativity in another. To be creative is to be inspired, and it is through our imaginations, constant and turbulent, that we expand our creativity and become an inspiration for the next being. Music is an indefinite beast, channeled by the masses, delivered by its visionaries. I want to explore this incessant cycle, in its past to my present, and one day beyond my existence.

I am Yve Lotus, and I will always be a music enthusiast. Aficionado? Almost. It is my deepest love, and I enjoy exploring its variations at every instance. I also explore another realm of user-created works in the metaverse Second Life as Yve Vella, making it possible to enjoy artists from across the globe in a virtual world. If you are a producer, visual or recording artist, I hope to provide a solstice, a place to celebrate art in its many forms. You always have a home here.

Welcome to The Muse Defined.
